Annette Libeskind Berkovits

Nachman’s military photo; note his signature in Yiddish. It was unusual for a pre-WWII Polish soldier to advertise his Jewish identity.

Natan Libeskind, Nachman’s brother who perished in the Warsaw ghetto uprising. He was one of its leaders and received a post humous medal of valor from the Polish government.

Pola Libeskind was Nachman’s oldest sister. Here she is with Mayer Pomerantz, her husband.

Rachel (Reniusia) Pomerantz, Nachman’s niece (Pola’s daughter). She and her mother were gassed on a truck headed to the Chelmno, Poland extermination camp.

Nachman’s sister Rosa Libeskind. She survived Auschwitz but lost a son and her husband. After the German Displaced Persons Camp she came to America and later was instrumental in helping Nachman obtain an entry visa to the U.S.

Surcia and Janek Malinowski, Nachman’s friends who took his family into their one room apartment in Lodz, Poland in 1946. They later emigrated to Canada.
